Someday Summary #6

Hey Guys,

Sorry about my lack of posts recently, working in retail means Christmas is one of the busiest times of year. Anyway I'm back with my weekly summary, although this post is a bit of a rundown of the last couple of weeks.

  • So the biggest change recently is that I started my new job. I've gone back to working in fashion retail which I love except I am now running my own shop which is a lot of added stress hence the reason I've been coming in from work and chilling out rather than having laptop time.
  • Then after a week of opening someone decided to break in to the shop. Luckily they didn't manage to take anything but managed to leave a whole lot of mess behind to clear up which was nice of them.
  • Obviously it has been Christmas (and I hope you all had a really good one) not that I got to enjoy very much of it working in retail but I had a lovely day and spent it with family and loved ones.
So that is all I have been up to really. Although It doesn't look like very much now I've wrote it down I feel like I haven't stopped this last three weeks. Things are starting to calm down now so hopefully I should have more time to invest in my blog!

Let me know what you have been up to recently.

December Favourites

Hey Guys,

I thought I would show you the few things I have been loving in December.

As I have been so busy this month I haven't really changed my make-up very much so I only have a couple of favorites this month.

This first thing that I have been using so much this month is my Naked 2 palette. I found I used this a lot as its so handy to create simple quick and easy looks with this palette.

The next favourite is this plum lipstick from Accessorize. Now it doesn't have a name so I cant recommended it to you but I'm sure if you went in you would be able to find it. It's a gorgeous dark plum shade that I have loved wearing all through December as I think it jazzes up all the dark outfits I have been wearing.

The next thing is the Stay Flawless 15 hour primer from Benefit. Now I only got this in my advent calender so I haven't had it all that long but I already know I love it and I will be buying the full size as soon as I run out. I really notice a difference to not only how long my make up lasts but how it applies. It really helps create that flawless look that lasts all day.

Another advent calender favourite is the mini They're Real mascara. I won't go on about this two much as I have done a whole post about this but my full size one ran out so I was sooo happy when I got a mini!

Finally is this beautiful body butter from the Body Shop which smells of satsumas! I love this scent and I love that this is only a mini as I find them so much easier to use. The Body Shop body butters aren't that expensive but do leave your skin feeling very luxurious!

Let me know what you loved this month.

Christmas Glitter Nails

Hey Guys,

Today I'm back to show you some really nice nails I picked up recently!

I picked these up in my local body care after I had only gone in for some deodrant ( isn't that always the case) because they really caught my eye! I thought these would be ideal for Christmas party season as they add a touch of sparkle without being over the top! The only complaint I have with them is the stupid sticky tabs that come with them! I would definitely recommend buying some decent glue to use instead!
I've already worn the purple ones and got quite a few compliments from the girls at work!

Let me know if you've seen any Christmas nails that I need to get!

Benefit Advent Calendar #1

Hey Guys,

Okay so my blogging schedule has totally gone kaput, my internet has had a meltdown and I'm having to write posts at other people's houses and then upload on my Ipad later.
So today I am going to share what I have got out of my advent calendar so far. Bear in mind that is a couple of days late.

So as you can see after four days I am really impressed with what I have so far.
First thing first there was the super cute paper clips that will come in handy at my new job!
Then I got a mini Ultra Plush Lip gloss in a really wearable pink shade. Ideal handbag size!
Next was the mini They're Real Mascara! I love this mascara and it's always handy to have a spare!
Finally there is a Stay Don't Stray concelar primer. I've never tried anything like this before but I am quite excited to!

Where I can I will try and let you know how I get on with all the products I have not used before.

My New Glasses

Hey Guys,

I'm back with a bit of a different post to show you my new accessories glasses.

Before I changed my job I worked in an office using computers all the time and I knew I needed glasses as I was starting to get quite bad headaches.
So as I suspected the optician recommended I get glasses for using computers, reading and watching the television. I spotted these ones straight away and fell in love. They are (obviously) Versace and have the small gold Lionish head on the sides, They are just the right size for me, not to big but big enough so they don't look to officey.  Now I know the picture isn't the best but it kind of shows the blue tint that the lenses have. This is not everyone's cup of tea and Stu doesn't really like it but I love it. What that does is reduces the glare from screens meaning my eyes don't strain.

I know this is a slightly different post from me but as I wear these most days now I thought I would share them!

Let me know what you think

Wishlist: Christmas Jumpers

Hey Guys,

I have made it my mission this year to get a nice Christmas jumper. Last year I left it to late and couldn't get one in my size anyway :(

So I thought I would share my favourite four that I have got my eye on.

Top Left: Topshop - Link
Top Middle: New Look - Link
Right: Ebay - Link
Bottom Left: Next - Link

These are my top four but in all honesty I think I'm edging towards the Ebay one. I think it kills two birds with one stone as Home Alone is one of my favourite films and the jumper would be a good talking point.

Let me know if you have already got a Christmas jumper or if you wear one at all.

The Christmas Tag

Hey Guys,

So its the 1st of December which is when Stuart officially lets me play christmas songs or even mention christmas at all. So I thought I would start this month of 'blogmas' off with the christmas tag.
I haven't actually been tagged to do this post but it looked fun so I thought I would invite myself to do it.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I love christmas films, I don't think there is any that I've seen that I don't like. But I think that my top three would have to be Home Alone, Miracle on 34th street and Santa Claus the movie (the original)

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
When I was younger we were always allowed to open one present on christmas eve, and it just so happened that they were always our new pj's. But now I'm older I open all my presents on christmas morning.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I think the first Christmas I can remember I was about five and it was the year before my brother was born. All I had asked for was a pink bike, I came down on the morning and opened all of my presents and was so upset that there was no bike, until my mam shouted Santa has left something in the kitchen for you. Sure enough there was my brand new sparkly pink bike and I was over the moon. I even think I cried and wrote a really long thank you letter to Santa.

4. Favourite festive food?
It's not really a festive food but I always eat a massive, and I mean massive, amount of ferro roches!!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
My favourite christmas gift has got to be little legs (zan) techinically I got him after christmas but I used christmas money to buy him.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
This is a tricky one for me because I don't like typical christmas scents, I hate cinnamon and spice scents. I would have to say I really like vanilla scents or cooking smells.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
No not really any more. When we were younger me and my two brothers used to squeeze into one bed and watch christmas films. I would always make them listen and they were convinced they heard bells every year.

8. What tops your tree?
A sparkly gold star!

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Every year without fail I would ask for a pony! My older cousin had her own horse and I was almost green with envy!

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
For me the best part of christmas has to be when someone I love, loves  the present I have bought for them. I try to put a lot of thought in to christmas presents and when someone really appreciates it, it makes it all worth while. Oh and pigs in blankets!!

So there you go, I tag anyone who wants to join in!

My Eyebrow Threading Experience

Hey Guys,

I have recently started getting my eyebrows threaded instead of waxing and when I started telling my friends they were all really curious as there seams to be a stigma attached to eyebrow threading. So I thought I would share my experience including some photos.

As you can see from the photo's they don't look exactly the same my eyebrows never do until I use some product in them. And I can only apologise about the quality of these photos I had to take them on my Iphone with really poor lighting.

Now I did try and take a before photo but trust me that was not pretty. Basically before I went in I was in desperate need, they were a mess. Truthfully they needed doing two weeks before I actually got them done but I was trying to grow them out so I could get them thicker than I normally do.

I've seen threading stations all over including most Superdrug's, I get mine done in Debenhams as I think the ladies in there are all super friendly and try to make the experience as painless as they can.

Now I'm not going to lie, it does hurt, well not hurt more of a sting. Not enough to make your eyes water and it's over pretty quick. The reason I prefer threading is it seems to get a much better line and you can get more of a precise shape. It also seems to get those little hairs that you can't really tell are there normally. The other massive plus for me is I sometimes used to get a reaction from the wax used and obviously there is none of that with threading.

In in all honesty I'm not 100% happy with these as the lady who normally does them for me wasn't in yesterday and I had to have them done off the other lady who wasn't as good but I still don't think she has done a bad job.

Have you ever tried eyebrow threading? Let me know how you got on!

Review: Lush Butterbear Bathbomb

Hey Guys,

I hope your all well on this dark gloomy morning. During winter my most favourite thing to do is take a steaming hot bubble bath using some lovely products.

Recently one of my colleagues gave me this bath bomb as a little leaving present and I thought I would share my thoughts on it with you.

Firstly I have to mention how cute is he!! Almost to cute to use, almost! This has a really fresh scent with a touch of vanilla that is not to overpowering and sickly.
When I first popped this in the bath, I have to admit I was kind of disappointed as nothing happened, no funny colours no popping candy nothing. However when I jumped in I was pleasantly surprised.  Although there was nothing fancy about it it was still filled with all the goodness that I've come to expect from Lush. It's almost like a bath oil kind of feeling. The water feels silky and luxurious and it leaves your skin feeling the same.

I would definitely recommend this and would purchase this for myself.

Let me know what your favourite bath products are.

Review: St.Tropez Tannin Mouse

Hey Guys,

I'm back to day with a review of possibly my favourite fake tan.

Now I know most people tend to only use fake tanning products in the summer when everyone has their legs out but I tend to use it all year round. I don't use it every day but if I'm going out I do like to add a bit of colour.
I've got a lot of Christmas parties coming up so I knew I would be using tan and decided to try St.Tropez. Personally I prefer a mouse to a lotion or a spray as I feel it applies easier and isn't to drying. Now I've been a log time user of the cheaper cousin St.Moriz and I love it but it does sometimes go on slightly patchy and  I just wanted to try something new.
I've tried this a couple of times now and I love it. It's a really nice consistency that's easy to apply and leaves the skin a natural golden colour. It is a little bit pricey but I think for special occasions I would definitely recommend this.

Let me know if you've tried this or if you can recommend any good fake tans.

Someday summary #5

This weeks someday summary is a bit of a sad one!

  • I actually left my job this week. Now I'm not a nutter I do have a new job to go to but it is still really daunting and sad when you actually leave the place you have worked for the last year and a half.
  • Lost another 1lb and weight watchers and I'm only 1lb away from half a stone!
  • I officially am already over the cold weather! Don't get me wrong I love the crispness of autumn but I just don't like the winter.
  • Stuart has also started a new job this week, super duper proud of him!

Benefit candy-coated countdown advent calender

Hey Guys,

Today I am going to share a quick glimpse of the much sought after Benefit beauty advent calender.

Beauty advent calenders were a massive thing last year and I missed out on one of these bad boys last year so I made it my mission to get one this year. So out of sheer excitement I thought I would share this with you guys. I was on my phone at the exact time they were released and was still very lucky to get one. I am thinking about doing blogmass this year just so I can share the products that are in and some Christmas posts that I've got planned.

Let me know if you have bought any of these beauty advent calenders this year and if you have which one?

Review: Colab Dry Shampoo

Hey Guys,

Today I'm back with a review of the Colab Dry Shampoo.

Now I'm not afraid to admit that dry shampoo is sometimes my best friend especially those dark mornings when an extra 30 minutes in bed sounds so much nicer than getting up to wash my hair. Now when I had read other reviews of this product I couldn't wait to try it out, I mean a dry shampoo that is light weight and invisible who wouldn't like the sound of that. The scent that I picked up was Tropical and it smells beautiful really fresh and fruity. It's very true to it's word as it doesn't leave the horrible white residue that normal dry shampoo's do. As it is really lightweight I do find that you do need to use a bit more than normal to style your hair but that's still a good thing because your hair still doesn't feel heavy and full of product. I can't decided yet whether this will fully replace my beloved Batisse dry shampoo but I will definitely be repurchasing it.

Have you tried this product? What did you think?

Happy Birthday Little Legs

Hey Guys,

Bit of a different post from me today as it is Zans birthday I wanted to do a little dedication. Today my little man turns 7, a fact I can't quite believe. I have had him since he was 10 weeks old and he was a huge part of my life from that very first day.

I thought I would share some fun facts about him and the reasons I love him.

  • He is literally as daft as a brush
  • His full name is actually Xanku
  • He hates anything that makes an electrical noise (hair dryers, hoovers, electric toothbrush) and likes to run around the garden barking when I'm using one.
  • He chases his own shadow
  • He LOVES cuddles and kisses
  • He is scared of the wind
  • He has very selective deafness (as most dogs do)
  • He wants to be every bodies friend but is getting a little grumpy as he gets older. .
  • He is a massive part of my family, I love him like a mother loves a child.
There you go some fun facts about my little legs!

Do you have any pets? Do they have any quirky traits?

The British Tag

Hey guys,

I'm back with a tag post for you all. I love doing tag posts as I think they are a really fun way to find about more about each other. So today I am going to take part in the British Tag.

Image: weheartit

1) How many cups of tea do you have a day? + How many sugars?

I work in an office so I drink a lot of cups of tea! I'm also pretty strange as I can drink tea however people make it, with sugar, without sugar, strong or even with our milk. If I was to make it myself I drink it quite strong with one sugar.

2. Favourite part of your roast

This is really easy for me, definetley real beef gravy with puddings! But then roast potatoes...

3. Favourite dunking biscuit

This is also really easy, it has to be a Kit Kat every time, when you break them in half it's like you've got two!

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?

I wouldn't say its my favourite thing but I am always copmplaining about the weather! I hate the cold weather we are having at the minute but at the same time in the summer its always too hot, strange I know!

5. Cockney Rhyming Slang?

Thats not really a question? But the one I use the most is "Joe mick" when I feel sick!

6.Favourite sweet?

I don't really know which sweets are British but I know Cadburys chocolate is British so I'm going with that!

7. What would your pub be called?

Well I used to live in a Pub when my brother was first born and that was called the Queens Head so I'm going to stick with that name.

8. No.1 British Person?

Obviously the Queen and Prince Harry.

9. Favourite shop/restaurant?

This is quite a hard one as my favourite shop changes all the time. At the minute I am really liking River Island.
My favourite restaurant also changes all the time as well so I couldn't possibly choose!

10. Which British song pops into your head?

Again, this is a really hard one. When I first saw this question I though about the national anthem of which I know the first verse (bad I know) other than that just old songs from people like the Beatles.

So there you have it. I don't have any one in particular to tag, so if your British consider your self tagged!!

Models Own : Nude Fizz

Hey Guys,

Today I am going to share with you my new favourite nail combo. Recently, in Leeds, I went a tad Models Own crazy taking full advantage of the 6 for £20 offer and these are two of my favorites I picked up.

The two colours that have already become my favourites are Nude Beige and Pink Fizz. I love the two together using Pink Fizz on my ring finger for just a touch of sparkle during the day and for work as it’s not to in your face. However I think as the party season is coming up (far to quickly!!) I think I would use Pink Fizz on its own on all the nails to add a real touch of glamour. I love the consistency of Models Own polishes as they tend to only need two coats and your good to go. The staying time is around 3 days before I find my self touching up.

Let me know what shades your loving recently!

Soap & Glory - No Clogs Allowed

Hey Guys,

I'm back today to share my thoughts on the Soap & Glory no clogs allowed mask .

This product  is a self heating deep pore detox mask which is supposed to help prevent blemishes and spots by getting deep in to your pores and removing everything yucky. I have used this once a week now for about 5 weeks so feel like I can give it a fair review. It is quite warm when you first apply it, warmer than I was expecting but not uncomfortably warm. You apply it with dry hands and then massage it in to your face using wet hands which turns the mask a slight blue colour. I then use my Liz Earle muslin cloths to remove it. Now I have read some mixed reviews but I really enjoy using this, my skin certainly appreciates it. Afterwards my skin feels very soft and clean. It is aimed towards people with Oily or combination skin so I wouldn't recommend it for people with dry skin.

Let me know if you have tried this and how you got on.

Tan and Leather Coat - River Island
Fedora - River Island
Burgandy Boots - New Look

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray

Hey Guys,

Today I thought I would share my thoughts on the Bumble & Bumble surf spray.

All I can say is that I have really enjoyed using this product. I feel like I've been using it all summer and I haven't really stopped since. Since I have been trying to get my hair blonde I have been trying not to use as much heat on my hair so I have trying to let my hair dry on it's own.  I have naturally wavy hair, but that annoying wave where it's not nice enough to leave on its own. So recently I have found myself letting my hair half dry on it's own and then apply the surf spray and scrunch it to give a really nice beachy wave look. I can normally get two days out of it with a refresh the next morning. The only thing is that it does make your hair stiff and I find it's normally best to wash the product out rather than try and brush it out. I haven't tried any other salt sprays so I can't say how it compares but I would definitely recommend you give it a go.

Let me know if you have tried this, or any other salt sprays.

My Everyday Make-up

Hey Guys,

Recently I have found my self reaching for the same products on a daily basis, so much so that I thought I would share them with you.

The products I've been loving are:

  • Nars Sheer Glow Foundation - Vallauris
  • Urban Decay Flushed Palette - Streak
  • Sleek Brow Palette - Medium
  • Benefit Gimmie Brow - Light/Medium
  • Loreal Super Liner - Black
  • Benefit They're Real - Black
I've been reaching for these products because they are really easy and quick when I decide that I would rather have those extra 15 minutes in bed. I  especially love the Urban Decay flushed palette because it is three products in one and there is a really big mirror in there if I'm on the go. These Aside from these products I have been reaching for various nude lip products so it isn't to much for work. My day to day look very rarely changes but if you would like to see a night time/ going out make-up products let me know.

Topshop Summer Nails

Today I am going to share my two most recent favourite Topshop nail polishes.

So the two colours are Milkshake (left) and Bounce (right), I have been wearing these two polishes alternatively for weeks now. Every time it comes to painting my nails I can't help myself but reach for one of these. I love the polishes from Topshop they are really nice and long wearing and I have quite a few now.Bounce is a lot more peachy than it is showing in the picture which  I love. They retail for £5 so they are quite affordable making it very easy to quickly end up with a large stash.

Very late to the party...

Hey guys,

Today I am going to share with you my thoughts on the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.

Now I know I am veryyyy late to the Liz Earle party. I am sure everyone and their mother and their aunt has heard of this product. It's always something that I have been very interested in trying as the reviews for it are amazing. I've never actually got round to making the purchase because until recently there was no where near me that sold it and I am always dubious about purchasing products online.  Recently, though, me and my friend went to Leeds for a couple of days, and when I noticed a Liz Earle store I could help my self.

So I have been using this every night for the past two weeks now and I am in love. It is really effective at taking my make-up off whilst still being gentle enough to use on my eyes. If that wasn't enough it leaves my skin feeling really clean and fresh. I am seriously considering purchasing others in line and maybe making my whole skin routine consist of Liz Earle products, I really have enjoyed it that much! I really would urge everyone to try it as I think it really would work on all skin types. ( I also gave my friend the free sample I got and she loves it just as much as me)

On a side note a stand has opened within my local boots so I think I might be treating my self on payday!

Let me know if you have tried this, (who hasn't) and what else you would recommend from the brand.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

Hey Guys,

Today i'm back to share my thoughts on the Nars sheer glow foundation.

I picked this up on a recent trip to Leeds from Space NK and I love it! The coverage is a really good medium coverage that you can build up if you want to. The formula of this foundation is unlike anything else I have tried, it's like a second skin! It looks so natuaral but still covers any blemishes you might have. The only thing that does make me wince slightly is the hefty price tag, but as a treat, I would definitley recommend it.
I picked mine up in the shade Vallauris and find it best applies with a Real Techniques buffing brush.

Have you ever tried this? Do you like it?

Charles Worthington Texturising Spray

Hey guys,

I thought I would share my thoughts on the Charles Worthington Texturising Spray.

Lately I've found myself being very lazy with my hair. I think it's because I'm trying not to damage it ( whilst going blonde ). So 90% of the time I've been letting it do it's own thing, drying naturally and then spraying on this spray. And I've got to say that I love it! It turns just out and out messy hair into valuminous 'I've just spent a long time creating this look' without any of the work!  All I do is section my hair and spray on the root and back comb a little bit and I'm good to go! The only thing that I'm not sold on is it is very much like hair spray, meaning to much product can make your hair quite stiff.

Because I've used it so much I will definitely be re-purchasing this, but I might try out some other brands first!

Let me know if you've tried this and if you like it?!
